Praised for their ‘fluid and seamless blending’ of both sound and expressive ideas, The Mazzoni Duo brings engaging music to diverse audiences. Flutist Jennifer Toro Mazzoni and pianist Matthew Mazzoni will present timeless works, including the incomparable Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy and a fireworks finish with the opera fantasy Der Freischutz (Taffanel) on themes by Carl Maria von Weber. Their dynamic presentation will inspire audiences with both beauty and drama.
Partners in music and in life, Jennifer and Matthew Mazzoni have been performing together in venues nationally and internationally for nearly 20 years. Matt is from Pennsylvania and studied at the University of Michigan before meeting Jennifer, who is a Saint Louis native, at Indiana University. Combining Jennifer’s “heavenly” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch) flute playing and Matthew’s outstanding musicianship, their duo was a 2013 St. Louis Artist Presentation Society prizewinner. They maintain an active performing schedule, appearing in various venues in the Saint Louis area and beyond. Matt and Jennifer have released 2 CD recordings of original sacred arrangements and classical repertoire. More information can be found at www.mazzonimusic.com.
