Composer Series: STLMade - Family Matters: Angie Smart and Theo Bockhorst in Recital

Join us for a unique performance in which St. Louis Symphony violinist, Angie Smart, is joined for the very first time by her seventeen-yearold son, Theo, in a truly memorable evening celebrating family and collaboration. Angie and Theo have chosen works to represent their musical journey from childhood to present and will be joined by close friends whose artistry has helped shape them both as musicians. The duo was recently featured by STLMade as “a movement within the St. Louis area that shines a light on the amazing things our innovative, tenacious, big-hearted people are doing.” This concert event was inspired by their piece Family Matters, and is being presented in collaboration with STLMade.

Originally from England, Angie Smart joined the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) in 1998, having graduated with a Masters in Music Performance from Rice University the same year. Angie began her violin studies at the age of six, winning a scholarship to the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music at thirteen before moving to the U.S. at the age of 18 to complete her education. Smart has performed extensively throughout Europe and the U.S. and has appeared as a soloist with many orchestras including several performances with the SLSO, most notably under the baton of the late Music Director Hans Vonk, and SLSO’s resident conductor Gemma New.
