The Program: Drawing Workshop with Lauren Darling

Master Form and Shape in the Galleries

Develop your art skills in this specialized drawing workshop led by instructor Lauren Darling. You will learn the art of form, shape, and more as you sketch in our vibrant exhibition spaces. Guests are invited to capture the photographic figures on display or find inspiration in the wide array of sports and chess memorabilia and artifacts throughout the gallery.

Whether you are a seasoned artist or picking up a pencil for the first time, this session offers a relaxed environment to sharpen your observational skills. Supplies and complimentary refreshments from Brennan’s will be provided, and no chess experience is needed to join in!

The Exhibition: Game Plan: The Strategy of Chess & Sports

The Intersection of Strategy and CultureThis creative program is offered in connection with our current exhibition, Game Plan: The Strategy of Chess & Sports. This exhibition features over 100 artifacts, including vintage equipment and sports-themed chess sets, that highlight the shared tactical evolution between the chessboard and the playing field. This event promotes chess education by demonstrating how the visual geometry of the game and sporting culture influences artistic expression through the study of diverse artifacts and imagery.
