School Programs at WCHOF

Hey teachers! I know, I know. It's only July, and there are still a few precious weeks of summer left before you have to worry about lesson plans and faculty meetings. But school will be back in full swing by the time the World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF) opens in September, and if you’re looking for a brand new multidisciplinary learning experience for your students, wow, do I have an opportunity for you.

We’re going to be working with our partners across the street, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis (CCSCSL), to develop collaborative field trips. They will include visits to both the CCSCSL and the WCHOF, so students can learn about the play of chess as well as the game’s historical and cultural context.

History, art, geography, language arts…you can learn about all of it through chess, and as a new organization, WCHOF can tailor field trips to your class’ interest and grade level. Soon after WCHOF’s grand opening in September, we’re hoping to co-host (with CCSCSL) a night for area educators, which will introduce you to the opportunities available at both organizations.

Stay tuned for more information on this special evening and our first exhibitions!
