Open Position: 

Communications Coordinator

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with General Manager, WCHOF staff, and PR team to coordinate all communication for the organization 
  • Create content for the website including stories, feature articles, blogs, and podcasts
  • Edit content written for the website by staff
  • Oversee the production of monthly newsletter
  • Develop membership-specific distribution materials — print, web and radio
  • Develop other print and web collateral for development, sales and other uses
  • Assist PR team with media distribution tasks
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Coordinate all media relations, including news release development, distribution and pitching
  • Assist in social media strategy, content development and publishing

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as needed
  • Degree in journalism, communications or related field
  • 2-3 years journalism or communications experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced environment with multiple projects due on tight timelines
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills 
  • Possess initiative and the ability to work and think independently
  • A basic understanding of chess preferred
  • Some grant writing experience a plus
