The World Chess Hall of Fame opened our latest exhibition Thursday night—Screwed Moves—featuring The Screwed Arts Collective, a group of nine artists who work collaboratively to create site-specific mixed media wall drawings and are native to, or connected to, Saint Louis. They have exhibited in Saint Louis before, at the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission, as well as in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the annual ArtPrize competition. The event kicked-off with music by DJ G.Wiz, spinning a variety of tunes from Bruce Springsteen to Michael Jackson, and visitors got a first look at the collaborative art-making process.

Later on, chess players from novice to Grandmaster engaged in matches of traditional chess and Roulette Chess led by WGM Jennifer Shahade, a two-time U.S. Women's Chess Champion. Shahade also played a match against GM Yasser Seirawan, acting Resident Grandmaster at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.
