Monthly Music Series: The 442s with Erin Bode

Join the World Chess Hall of Fame as we present The 442s with special guest Erin Bode! The 442s are an acoustic quartet named for the modern standard tuning of 442 Hz! Brought together by the innovative compositions of Adam Maness, who plays piano and other instruments in the group, The 442s features Shawn Weil on violin, Bjorn Ranheim on cello, and Syd Rodway on bass. Formed in 2012, this unique ensemble blends virtuosic musicianship and inventive improvisation, while breaking down barriers between jazz, classical, folk, and pop music. Erin Bode is a singer who is comfortable mixing jazz standards with well-known pop tunes and classics from the Great American Songbook in a typical performance. The daughter of a Lutheran pastor, Bode sang in a church choir as a teenager, discovered jazz and big-band music while in high school in St. Louis, and went on to earn degrees in music and foreign languages from Webster University. She has released several critically acclaimed albums and has frequently been compared to Norah Jones for her willingness to explore a wide range of material in a fresh, often subtle manner.
