Lecture and Book Signing with Alisa Melekhina

Alisa Melekhina, Internationally-ranked chess master and author of Reality Check: What the Ancient Game of Chess Can Teach You About Success in Modern Competitive Settings, will draw on themes from her book to break down the complex process of decision-making in chess. Melekhina will offer insights from her experience both as a chess player and an immigrant, as well as lessons learned on her path to becoming a corporate litigator. Intended for both chess players and a non-chess playing audience, her presentation will provide a rare glimpse into the thought process of a chess master, and convert that into a framework for success. Melekhina will be signing copies of Reality Check in Q Boutique after the talk.

Melekhina is a long-time competitor in U.S. open tournaments, women’s national, and world team invitational events. At age 22, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law school, the same year she placed fifth at the U.S. Women’s Championships. She is currently practicing as a corporate attorney in NYC. When not competing in chess tournaments, Alisa writes for a variety of leading chess publications.
