Join us for an evening of chess, art, and conversation. Tom Hackney, a British artist whose paintings depict geometric abstractions based on the movements of pieces in the games of Marcel Duchamp, will lead a discussion with Francis Naumann, gallery owner and director of Francis M. Naumann Fine Art, New York and collaborator in developing the exhibition Tom: Hackney: Corresponding Squares: Painting the Chess Games of Marcel Duchamp, currently on view at the World Chess Hall of Fame.

Hackney and Naumann will play a game of chess using a color-coded chess set designed by the artist Marcel Duchamp in 1920 as Dr. Bradley Bailey, Associate Professor of Art at Saint Louis University and Duchamp scholar, will engage the players with questions about the artist’s process, his works, and their meaning.
The artist will be signing catalogues and other merchandise before the talk in Q Boutique, from 6-6:30 p.m.
