Meet a large and impressive bird of prey from World Bird Sanctuary and learn some related chess tactics by Grandmaster Robert Hungaski! Inspired by the bird chess set in Mind, Art, Experience: 10 Years of Chess & Culture in Saint Louis and RAW (Raptor Awareness Month), a representative from World Bird Sanctuary will bring one of their favorite birds to the WCHOF chess patio to educate and safely interact with guests. GM Hungaski will also demonstrate the Bird’s Opening, a standard flank
opening in a chess game.
Every year, World Bird Sanctuary helps over 500 raptors that come through their rehabilitation hospital, and they maintain care of over 200 other birds in their conservation and education initiatives. World Bird Sanctuary’s mission is to preserve the earth’s biological diversity and secure the future of bird species and their natural environments through the three pillars of education, conservation, and rehabilitation.
