Call for Docents at WCHOF

Do you like working with people?

Interested in the arts, history, education, or chess?

Want to be involved with a new Saint Louis cultural institution?

Looking for some great volunteer experience?

The World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF) is seeking docents for its inaugural exhibitions. If you answered “yes” to any or all of the above questions, please consider completing an application!

Docents, if selected, will lead tours and educational programs at the WCHOF. Chess knowledge or prior education experience is not necessary—these qualities may be helpful, but are not required. What is needed is a willingness to learn exhibition content, as well as how to present this information to diverse visitors. A mandatory training course involving several hours of instruction with educators, curators, and other professionals will be provided. In addition, docents must commit to leading 1-2 programs each month for at least the duration of the WCHOF’s opening exhibitions (September 2011—February 2012).

WCHOF docents will play an integral role in promoting Saint Louis’ newest arts and cultural organization, and we look forward to building an enthusiastic, talented education team!
