The WCHOF will present a diverse programming schedule celebrating chess’ enduring artistic and cultural significance. The following programs will be among those offered in coordination with our grand opening and inaugural exhibitions, Chess Masterpieces: Highlights from the George and Vivian Dean Collection and OUT OF THE BOX: Artists Play Chess. Guido van der Werve, Matthew Bengtson, and the St. Louis Symphony will perform van der Werve’s composition for chess piano, Nummer twaalf, in the WCHOF first floor gallery on September 13. Light refreshments will be served. Larry List, curator of Chess Masterpieces, Dr. Bradley Bailey, curator of OUT OF THE BOX, and Dr. George Dean will share their insights and expertise on the exhibited artists and artworks as part of a free lecture series. Docent-led guided tours and self-guided audio tours of WCHOF exhibitions will be available during museum hours.
