Music Series: Soul and Americana by Emily Wallace

Enjoy an evening of powerhouse vocals, stirring lyrics, and evocative melodiesby Saint Louis singer-songwriter, Emily Wallace. Joined by guitarist Kevin Babb, the two will perform original music from her catalog and a few of her favorite cover tunes.

An active performer in the Saint Louis music scene for over 25 years, Emily Wallace has opened for countless national acts, played local festivals including LouFest, Open Highway Music Festival, and Music at the Intersection, and has a sold-out weekend at Jazz St. Louis under her belt. She is a founding member of The Sleepy Rubies, a band she formed with her sister, Ali Ruby. Emily is currently in the process of writing and recording her first full-length solo album, releasing in Spring 2024.

POSTPONED – Music Series: Viva España with Benedetta Orsi & Friends (New Date TBA)

Join us for a special performance by internationally acclaimed Italian mezzo-soprano Benedetta Orsi. Benedetta will transport you to a vibrant Spanish night, filled with some of the most famous zarzuelas, pop, and art songs. Russian pianist Alla Voskoboynikova and American classical guitarist Mark Akin are joining the performance.

Born and raised in Bologna, Italy, Benedetta Orsi moved to the United States in 2009 after being discovered by an American agent. Along with her appearances at Carnegie Hall and throughout Italy, Austria, England, Spain, the United States, and France, she has performed with Boulder Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Filarmonica Emiliana, St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra, Missouri Chamber Music Festival and more. Her third and latest album, with pianist Alla Voskoboynikova and the Arianna String Quartet, was released in July 2023.

Since cultivating his craft throughout his formative years in Saint Louis, Missouri, Dylan Triplett has toured around the world, shared the stage with some Grammy Award-winning artists, and has also won a Blues Music Award for his most recent EP release in 2022 titled “Dylan Triplett- Who Is He?”

Music Series: The French Connection with Andrea Jarrett and Friends – SOLD OUT

Welcome spring with an evening of beautiful French chamber music presented by St. Louis Symphony Orchestra violinist Andrea Jarrett, WCHOF Music Director Brian Woods, violist Andrew Francois, and cellist Davin Rubicz. Featuring Maurice Ravel’s Saint Louis jazz-inspired Violin Sonata, an exciting springtime work from Lili Boulanger, and Gabriel Fauré’s compelling Piano Quartet No. 1, Op. 15, the performers will enchant and delight with music full of color, poetry, and charm.

Violinist Andrea Jarrett has played second violin with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra since 2015, and made her solo debut in 2019 with SLSO Music Director Stéphana Denève. She has performed worldwide with the SLSO and is a regular performer with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis, Ariel Concert Series, and the St. Louis Symphony community partnership program. She is joined by World Chess Hall of Fame Music Director Brian Woods, violist Andrew Francois, and cellist Davin Rubicz for this special performance.

Presented as part of the World Chess Hall of Fame Music Series, this unique event weaves the elegance of chess with the power of music to pay homage to the remarkable women who have left an indelible mark on the chessboard. In this enchanting performance, the intersection of intellect and creativity takes center stage. The melodic moves of the musicians mirror the tactical brilliance of the queens on the chessboard, creating a harmonious synergy that transcends both worlds. “Match of the Matriarchs” is not merely a musical showcase but a heartfelt tribute to Donna Dodson’s incredible artwork as well as women’s resilience, intelligence, and strategic prowess in chess.

Music and love define the artistry of singer, songwriter, and dedicated community activist Brian Owens. These qualities radiate from all of his work, including his duet with five-time Grammy-winning and legendary vocalist Michael McDonald on SOUL OF FERGUSON and the heartfelt interpretation of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” which Owens filmed and recorded with his father, Thomas Owens.

Music Series: Chamber Music with Ariel Concert Series

Join the Ariel Concert Series for a delightful chamber music program! The concert features beautiful miniatures from Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Nadia Boulanger, and Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn alongside a collection of Felix Mendelssohn’s Songs Without Words arranged for clarinet and piano. Escape the summer heat with an evening of chamber music performed by the finest Saint Louis area musicians!

The Ariel Concert Series was founded in 2020 with the support of Tai Lin, President and CEO of Ariel Premium Supply, Inc., as an opportunity for the musicians of St. Louis to connect with their community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the artistic direction of members of the St. Louis Symphony, the series has now grown to one of the foremost chamber music presenters in the area, producing monthly concerts in local St. Louis venues. This program features clarinetist Tzuying Huag and cellist Bjorn Ranheim with WCHOF Music Director and pianist Brian Woods.

Music Series: Brilliant Beauty by The Mazzoni Duo

Praised for their ‘fluid and seamless blending’ of both sound and expressive ideas, The Mazzoni Duo brings engaging music to diverse audiences. Flutist Jennifer Toro Mazzoni and pianist Matthew Mazzoni will present timeless works, including the incomparable Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun by Claude Debussy and a fireworks finish with the opera fantasy Der Freischutz (Taffanel) on themes by Carl Maria von Weber. Their dynamic presentation will inspire audiences with both beauty and drama.

Partners in music and in life, Jennifer and Matthew Mazzoni have been performing together in venues nationally and internationally for nearly 20 years. Matt is from Pennsylvania and studied at the University of Michigan before meeting Jennifer, who is a Saint Louis native, at Indiana University. Combining Jennifer’s “heavenly” (St. Louis Post-Dispatch) flute playing and Matthew’s outstanding musicianship, their duo was a 2013 St. Louis Artist Presentation Society prizewinner. They maintain an active performing schedule, appearing in various venues in the Saint Louis area and beyond. Music Series: Be.Be The Neosoul Presents—The Cookbook

Presenting original songs from her debut album The Cookbook, Be.Be and her band, the Neosouls, bring an evening of a lot of soul, a little funk, and more love than anything else to the WCHOF stage.

 Born in Queens, New York, Be.Be has been rooted in and represented Saint Louis’ rich music scene since 2002. Graduate of the internationally acclaimed Webster University, Be.Be cultivated and built her foundation as an artist and performance resume by opening for National recording artists like Grammy-nominated vocalist, Chrisette Michelle while sharpening her craft. A favorite of many stages from SOHO’S NYC to one of the featured Kranzberg Arts Foundation Residency artists, Be.Be has shown why she is the face of St. Louis Soul while sharing her gift and passion to countless of her contemporaries, in addition to leading her own band of world-class musicians, Be.Be & the Neosouls.”
