Monthly Music Series: Thunder and Rain

An angelic voice soars over a blanket of acoustic sound, living somewhere between folk, country, bluegrass, and pop. The voice, belonging to band leader and songwriter Erinn Peet Lukes, sings lyrics that speak honestly about matters of the heart. The songs, along with the highest level of musicianship from the rest of the band, have captured audiences young and old, internationally and across the USA.

Peet Lukes wrote her first song with the chords she learned on guitar at 13, while living in her hometown of Redondo Beach, California. She pursued her love of performing original songs through major music hubs like Seattle and New York City, until she landed in Denver in 2013. She began to explore bluegrass jams in the Denver area, where she would eventually meet Thunder and Rain’s bass player, Ian Haegele. Haegele was just about to start grad school for bass performance at UNC Greeley when the band recorded their first studio album, Holler Out, in 2014.
