Composer Series: Clarion Brass Quintet: "Our Nation's Flag"

Celebrate the musical history of our great nation with the Clarion Brass Quintet. “Our Nation’s Flag” is a musical journey that explores the evolution of the American flag from the original 13 stars-and-stripes by Betsy Ross and George Washington through the 48 stars-and-stripes designed for World War II. Listen to how the folk tunes of the late 1700s developed into music for military brass bands and how the 1800s European operettas were transformed into the unique sounds of the Big Band era and Broadway.

The Clarion Brass Quintet has been a part of the Saint Louis Music scene since 1994. Lead by Mary Weber, this group of professional musicians has appeared in countless venues throughout the region, including Sheldon Concert Hall’s beloved Coffee Concert Series. The group plays favorites from the Renaissance and Baroque eras as well as bebop, rock & roll, and arrangements of the Big Band era, marches, light classics and fun music for children.
