Monthly Music Series: The Mighty Pines

The Mighty Pines are a fierce roots band making music inspired by the wide rivers and red-brick streets of Saint Louis. For over four years they’ve been fashioning their distinctive heartland sound. The music is fresh: bluegrass meets acoustic soul and rock and roll. With their genre-bending original songs the band bridges the gap between groove and grass, between country and funk, between blues and folk. The music can at one moment be raucous and at the next hushed, with soaring harmonies keeping it sweet through every song.

The Pines formed in 2012 and have since released three albums, played hundreds of live shows and shared bills with such renowned acts as Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Sam Bush, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Fruition, and more in bars and concert halls across the country. This is a band that can rage a late night festival show or captivate an intimate listening room crowd. Their full-length album Lonesome Blues establishes The Mighty Pines as a young, exciting force in grass-roots music, but there’s only one way to truly experience this dynamic quartet: see them live.
