Value & Volume: Figure Drawing with Brian Flowers

Want to take your stick figure drawings to the next level? Grab your paper, pencils, and charcoal and join us for two hours of live-model drawing with instructor Brian Flowers. Learn about drawing supplies, how to draw gestures, and use sighting techniques to improve speed and proportions in a series of quick sketches, followed by a sustained pose. After a short break, learn how to create a value scale and apply volume to your drawing.

No experience? No problem! This program is designed for figure drawing novices as well as those with previous experience.

Please arrive promptly at 6 p.m. for introductions and refreshments. Due to the nature of this event—which may include a nude or partially nude model, doors will close at 6:15 p.m. until a break at 7 p.m. Availability is limited to 15 participants, 21 or older.

Brian Flowers is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, where he received his BFA with an emphasis in figure drawing & painting. He has been active as a private art tutor and instructor for high school and adult art classes in Illinois and Missouri. Brian has exhibited throughout the region, including. ‘In Tandem,’ a duo-exhibition at Southeastern Illinois College. In addition to a variety of commissioned pieces—including a mural at a car dealership, his artwork is on permanent display at Southeast Missouri State University’s Towers Complex and Harrison College of Business.
