WCHOF Music Series: The Oboe and Its Many Colors

St. Louis Symphony oboist Xiomara Mass will dazzle you with solo oboe selections that are both virtuosic and soulful in this varied program of expressive music from Mozart, Pasculli, and more! She will be joined by exceptionally sensitive pianist Nina Ferrigno. Please join us for this unique program featuring one of Saint Louis’ brightest young musical stars!

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Xiomara Mass began her musical training at the age of four and made her solo debut with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra when she was only thirteen. She came to the United States to pursue her degree in oboe performance at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music. After completing her studies she won a position with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and also frequently played with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony. During the pandemic, Xiomara took part in the international Virtual Oboe Competition in which she was a finalist and the winner of the audience choice award. Xiomara is a member of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra where she has been playing for the last four years. Here's a sample of her work: https://youtu.be/SX2KdCzlxv0
