Field Trips & Student Tours

Meeting Missouri Grade Level Expectations in the fine arts and humanities, guided tours at the World Chess Hall of Fame explore how the game of chess has impacted (and been impacted by) art and culture over 1,500 years. Whether they play chess or not, students will gain an interdisciplinary understanding of how an idea can change across time and cultures.

Bring your school group or youth chess club to the World Chess Hall of Fame for a guided tour!

Guided tours of the World Chess Hall of Fame are $5 per student for groups up to 20 students, and $3 per student for groups of 20 students or more. Chaperones are admitted at no cost.

Please contact Claire Grothe at [email protected] or 314-367-9243 ext. 105 for more information or to book a tour.

A Complete Chess Experience—Play, Learn, and Explore

The Ultimate Chess Field Trip

We also offer joint tours with our neighbors across the street, the Saint Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center. These 2-3 hour field trips include a tour and lesson at the Saint Louis Chess Club as well as a tour of the World Chess Hall of Fame. Our joint tours are a unique holistic experience that combine the cognitive benefits of chess play with the humanities focus of an art and history museum.

Joint field trips are $8 and free for schools affiliated with the Saint Louis Chess Club’s scholastics program! A pizza lunch (optional) is also available for an additional $5 per student.
