Open Position:
Communications Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with General Manager, WCHOF staff, and PR team to coordinate all communication for the organization
- Create content for the website including stories, feature articles, blogs, and podcasts
- Edit content written for the website by staff
- Oversee the production of monthly newsletter
- Develop membership-specific distribution materials — print, web and radio
- Develop other print and web collateral for development, sales and other uses
- Assist PR team with media distribution tasks
- Other duties as assigned by management
- Coordinate all media relations, including news release development, distribution and pitching
- Assist in social media strategy, content development and publishing
REQUIREMENTS
- Must pass a background check
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends as needed
- Degree in journalism, communications or related field
- 2-3 years journalism or communications experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform in a fast paced environment with multiple projects due on tight timelines
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Possess initiative and the ability to work and think independently
- A basic understanding of chess preferred
- Some grant writing experience a plus
