The World Chess Hall of Fame inaugural exhibitions, OUT OF THE BOX: Artists Play Chess and Chess Masterpieces: Highlights from the Dr. George and Vivian Dean Collection, closed on February 12th, and the World Chess Hall of Fame is now preparing for our upcoming Spring 2012 Exhibitions: Bobby Fischer: Icon Among Icons, Photographs by Harry Benson and Marcel Dzama: The End Game.

BOBBY FISCHER: Icon Among Icons, Photographs by Harry Benson CBE  will feature the work of renowned Scottish photojournalist Harry Benson. Benson landed in America with the Beatles in 1964 and has since made the United States his home.  He has photographed every U.S. president from Eisenhower to Obama and was next to Bobby Kennedy on the night he was assassinated. Benson marched with Martin Luther King, Jr., covered Hurricane Katrina, and joined Bobby Fischer as he trained and competed and in 1972 World Chess Championship.  Bobby Fischer: Icon Among Icons, Photographs by Harry Benson will feature Benson’s photographs of Fischer as the chess player competed in the most-watched chess match to date and made Cold War history.  The show will also feature images of Halston, Andy Warhol, and Winston Churchill, among others.

Marcel Dzama: The End Game will exhibit the work of Canadian-born contemporary artist Marcel Dzama. Dzama works extensively in sculpture, painting, collage, and film and is also known for his dioramas and large-scale polyptychs. The artist’s film, “A Game of Chess,” serves as the inspiration for the exhibition at the World Chess Hall of Fame.
