Biography
Irina Krush first started representing the United States internationally at the age of seven and has gone on to become one of the greatest female players in the history of American chess. The only woman to earn the grandmaster title while representing the United States, she has won the U.S. Women’s Championship eight times (1998, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2020), second only to Gisela Gresser’s nine titles. Krush has represented the United States in a record-breaking 12 Women’s Chess Olympiads, winning team silver in 2004 and bronze in 2006 and 2024. She won the women’s section of the 2022 and 2023 American Cups.
