👋 Hey Ladies! Ready for a Fun Night Out?

If you’ve ever been curious about chess—or just looking for a cool spot to socialize—this is your invitation! Join us for a special, laid-back edition of our women’s program, hosted at Havana’s Cuisine Restaurant in the Central West End.

We’re making this night super approachable for complete beginners, women and girls looking for a supportive community, and anyone who loves learning new things and making new friends! No pressure, no complexity.

The Plan for the Evening

  • ♟️ Learn a Little: The amazing WGM Thalia Cervantes will lead a short, easy lesson exploring Hispanic chess history at her family’s restaurant.
  • 📖 Read and Write Chess: Copies of Dr. Jeanne Cairns Sinquefield’s Read and Write Chess will be available in both Spanish and English.
  • 🥂 Mix & Mingle: Enjoy complimentary Cuban appetizers and refreshments while you relax and meet other awesome women.

Reading Between the Lines Ladies Knight with Thalia Cervantes

Join us for a special edition of the Saint Louis Chess Club’s “Ladies’ Knight” program, hosted here at the World Chess Hall of Fame, inside our newest gallery exhibition, Reading Between the Lines: Chess and Literature. WCHOF Curator Emily Allred will speak about the exhibition, and WGM Thalia Cervantes will lead a lesson. This program is for women and girls of all ages, open to all skill levels, and complimentary for STLCC and WCHOF members. Bring some friends, enjoy complimentary refreshments, and have fun exploring the art of chess!
