Curator-Led Tour: Coffee with Curators

Registration is closed for this event

Please join us for ‘Coffee with Curators’ with Chief Curator, Shannon Bailey, and Associate Curator, Emily Allred, of the World Chess Hall of Fame. Enjoy a behind the scenes look at all three of our current exhibitions: Harry Benson: Kings & Queens, Universal Turf: Peter Manion, and The Sinquefield Effect: The Resurgence of American Chess.

Harry Benson: Kings & Queens is a photography exhibit spanning the 60+ year career of world-renowned photojournalist Harry Benson CBE. Images include chess players and cultural icons such as Robert “Bobby” Fischer, Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Magnus Carlsen, celebrities, American presidents, and British royalty. Universal Turf: Peter Manion is a mixed media installation of never-before-seen works by Saint Louis-based artist Peter Manion that explores social and interpersonal parallels between chess and humanity. The Sinquefield Effect celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Saint Louis Chess Club and the rapid resurgence of chess in the United States. The exhibition explores the impact of Dr. Jeanne and Rex Sinquefield’s instrumental role in Saint Louis’ growing chess culture.
