Capital city to host bicentennial celebration next week

The celebration is set to kick off Monday with the dedication of the Bicentennial Bridge, which will provide a pedestrian and bike path from the Capitol to Adrian’s Island along the Missouri River. The bridge will connect to a 30-acre parkland north of the Union Pacific Railroad. The Bicentennial Chessboard, a collaboration with the World Chess Hall of Fame, will also be unveiled on the island.

[Midlands Business Leaders] 10-year-old chess prodigy Tani Adewumi has his sights set on becoming the greatest of all time

ST. LOUIS — St. Louis had a special guest in town recently to visit the World Chess Hall of Fame. It just so happens this guest will likely find himself in that same hall of fame someday down the road.

“Tani is the best 10-year-old in the United States, hands-down,” Saint Louis Chess Club Executive Director Tony Rich said. “In the U.S. we probably have two a generation… Two or three kids every 20 years maybe.”

10-year-old chess player Tanitoluwa (“Tani” for short) Adewumi is the definition of a prodigy.

The king piece which measures 6.09 m (20 ft) tall and 2.79 m (9 ft 2 in) in diameter at its base, was achieved by World Chess Museum, Inc. DBA World Chess Hall of Fame (USA) in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, on 6 April 2018.
