Biography
Born in Czechoslovakia and later representing Germany, Vlastimil Hort was one of the best players in the world during the 1960s and 1970s. Among his career highlights are qualifying for the Candidates by tying for second in the 1976 Manila Interzonal and winning the Czechoslovakian championship six times and the German championship three times. A participant in 14 Olympiads, he made his debut at Leipzig in 1960 at age 16, which was unheard of at the time.
