Established in 2014

In 2014, Congress voted to make Saint Louis the Chess Capital of America. This resolution supported the enhanced awareness of the educational benefits of chess and encouraged schools and community centers to engage with chess programs to promote problem-solving, critical thinking, and spatial awareness.

Home of the STL Chess Campus

At the heart of the city’s chess scene is the St Louis Chess Campus, which includes the Saint Louis Chess Club (STLCC), World Chess Hall of Fame (WCHOF), Q-Boutique, and Kingside Diner. The Saint Louis Chess Club hosts elite national and international competitions, fosters youth programs, and provides a welcoming space for players of all levels. Across the street, the World Chess Hall of Fame showcases the game’s rich history through engaging exhibitions, iconic artifacts, and educational programming. Together, these institutions have made St Louis a global chess hub.
