Champions in Motion explores the achievements of two figures from different worlds, chess and hip hop.

Spotlighting hip hop mogul Jay Z and U.S. and World Chess Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Fischer, the performance and workshop uses examples of moves made from both figures on how they maintained champion status in their fields. Thelonius Kryptonite and spoken word poet Prophetik Wizdom, will lead the event, performing poetry with music and showing visual clips to depict and analyze how both figures maneuvered to success. As champion can have multiple meanings, the discussion will include such diverse topics as transferring thought into action, thereby increasing love, joy, and peace of mind; overcoming obstacles; making mistakes without becoming discouraged; fame; and improving one’s community. The interactive event will end with a participatory activity, followed by discussion, and concluding with words to inspire.
